No same sex marriage in Indiana

A judge dismissed a lawsuit challenging Indiana's ban on recognizing same-sex unions, ruling that state law clearly defines marriage as a union between a man and a woman.

Why does this not surprise me?

Such a law, the ruling said, "promotes the state's interest in encouraging procreation to occur in a context where both biological parents are present to raise the child."

The Indiana Civil Liberties Union said it would appeal.

Of course they will.

I am not sure how I feel about a ban on same-sex marriages. I do not embrace homosexuality, but do not find the practice so morally abhorrent that I condemn homosexuals to second-class citizenry. I believe that the institution of marriage has lost most real meaning in today's American society: all the laws punishing adultery have long since been repealed; divorce is granted without any true cause needing to be shown; and there is no longer any shame attached to birthing or being a bastard. It does seem quite ridiculous to place such a high premium on the institution of marriage.

How would you feel if you couldn't marry the person tht you loved? What would it be like if you couldn't take care of them because you had no benefits to extend to them?? Prohibiting a person to marry is immoral.

I believe by not letting same sex couples marry is in violation of our freedom and civil rights. I believe that all people should be free to marry whomever they are in love with. Look at all the divorces in our country now. Same sex marriages can not do any worse a job at it, can they?? The old way of looking at marriage is gone. Lets roll with the times.

I am the mother of two beautiful children. I've consistently maintained two jobs for almost two years. My second job is AT MY CHURCH...A church which I am very actively involved in. My coworkers, superiors, neighbors, pastors and my children are all aware that I am gay. I am thankful for them..they acknowledge that I am a decent person, a good parent and that I am deserving of marrying my same sex mate if that is what my hearts desire is. It is a shame that Indiana cannot provide me this right.
