What? Not me!

norbizness is wondering why the Blogosphere is not buzzing about this speech. Jeez, like I want to comment on that Bush bashing claptrap?

I guarantee you that there has probably not been a President in the Whitehouse since my birth who didn't have his nose buried so far up special interest butts that he could actually find his own head if needed. Those that do not like an administration or the policies of one party always find some claptrap to whine about so they get in the news. Nothing new! Only the stupidest fucks rare outsiders find themselves publicly admired for what they do in Washington.

Our country seems to be mostly a bunch of blind sheep led around by the wolves' hand-picked shepherds. There is always more to the picture than you will ever know. The shit bureaucratic paperwork is piled so high, no one ever gets to the bottom.

Actually, I was just hoping that a future Democratic candidate takes his lead from that ex-Republican's speech so that I can actually tell the two national parties apart in 2004... but I'll probably vote Natural Law party anyway. In the electoral college system, is there any more worthless national vote that a Texas non-Republican these days?

I am unsure if I understood that question. Were you trying to ask if there was anything more wasted in the Great State of Texas than a non-Republican Texan's vote in an election for a National position? Yes, there is: All of the tax dollars that Texans send to Washington.

I mean electorally. It's pretty well determined that Bush will win this State, that Lloyd Doggett (absent redistricting) will win my House district, and that there are no Senate seats (Cornyn/Hutchinson) up for grabs.

However, I share your disappointment that Texas only gets 96-97 cents in federal spending per $1.00 of tax revenue we contribute. Phil Gramm, pork-wise, was an abject failure! Feh!

Well, regrettably I live in a Congressional District that will have a Democrat in office until Charlie Stenholm decides not to run again, but then again, with all the rural counties in his Congressional District, it is unlikely there will ever be enough Republican votes to ever oust a Democrat candidate. However, our State Legislator is Republican, and I like him a lot better than the last Republican State Legislator we had, who actually lost us when we were switched to a different State District.

As for me, I love the politics in this county. We have a population of about 7,000, and about 2,000 vote in nearly every election. In the last Presidential election, we had almost 3,000 vote. I will be running for office next year as a Republican, mainly because the person I will be running against is a Democrat and has been in office for 12 years. I do not want to face him in the Democratic primary. I figure I will have a better chance in the general election even as a Republican. It has only been over the past couple of elections that a Republican even ran for any local offices. Last year, Republicans took half the contested seats.

Regrettably, politics is actually just a popularity game in most National and State elections, just as it is in local elections. Most people do not vote for who they think will be the best man for the job, they vote for the one they like the best or the one they do not dislike.
