OK, I awoke early today and day three has been plagued with thoughts of just taking a few puffs of a cigarette at every turn. There is nothing good on TV and none of my movies seemed to interest me, so I guess I will just go for a drive. I think what I really need to get my mind off of smokin' would be to find myself in a tangle of naked women buried somewhere under some soft silky sheets. Oh wait, after it was all over I would definitely be wantin' a cigarette. I think I had just better go for a drive.

I'd suggest chewing gum--with yout teeth situation, maybe a sugarless that doesn't taste like utter crap. I never could find one, myself--I can taste artificial sweetener no matter how much they try to cover it up--but there might just be one out there, yanno? It would help you during times like finishing a meal or stepping outside, etc. Instead of lighting up, you pop a stick in and you're good to go! ;-)

Posted by: Denita TwoDragons at January 3, 2004 08:08 PMI only had to reread that like 6 times to figure out where the mistake was ... even after knowin' exactly what mistake had been made. George, Denita, Paul and Ringo. Whatever! Arrrrggghhh! I can't think!

Not being able to think is typical at the stage of quitting that you've gotten to. Your brain shuts down a bit and you find it hard to concentrate. It should start to clear up a little bit soon, though. The gum trick helps a little bit.
Just be sure you don't catch yourself oversleeping or forgetting something while at work! It might be a good idea to arrange your thoughts in a notepad so you don't lose your train of thought so easily in the courtroom, if you don't already do so.
*HUGS* Keep it up, Tig! :-)

"...and the Academy Award for Gross Overusage of the word 'Bit" goes to Denita TwoDragons...!"
George--you'd think I was the one quitting smoking! Maybe I should go to bed now, before I embarrass myself any further... :-P

Posted by: Denita TwoDragons at January 4, 2004 12:05 AMTiger, I wish you success. I know it can be done. I smoked for twenty-five years and was up to two packs a day when I quit in 1980.
Another suggestion. Get rid of your suits or send them to a good cleaner. The smell of tobacco will continue to trigger the old impulses. Getting rid of everything that smells of tobacco is a big job, but it's worth it.
