Okie Dokie, the makeover seems to be complete

Well, after lookin' over the main page for awhile and tweakin' here and there, I am pretty satisfied. I could change the major text off of small capitals, but I find it is a bit easier for me to read and I like the look. I am hopeful Goldie won't abandon me. :(

I was awakened early this mornin', as some animal was creepin' 'round makin' some weird noises. I have not had much problems with mice this year since I bought those electronic whatever the fork you call them things that keep mice and squirrels and supposedly all kinds of bugs outta your house, and except for some of those giant water bugs that look like huge cockroaches, I have not seen any crickets, mice, or any other kind of animals and bugs around. I think those things are doin' a great job. I actually came to the conclusion, although I never did locate whatever was makin' that noise, is that one of those giant waterbugs was caught in on of those plastic sacks we seem to have all over our house, or at least, everyone I know has about a million of them layin' here and there. As such, I figured there was no danger, but I was wide awake at 4:00 am. I decided I had better finish what I had started, so I have been workin' on redoin' all the archive, comment, and trackback templates as well, so, unless I can figure out how to redo the one that comes up if you use the "search form," I suppose my job is finished ... at least until I have another bug up my ass* and decide to change the look again. However, I love this look. Ya'll probably don't remember, but I told ya'll a month or so ago it was comin'. It finally did, and I am glad to get it behind me. Now all I need to do is think of somethin' worth bloggin' 'bout. I am gonna take a break and maybe somethin' will come to me. ttffn™

[UPDATE: George, the reason I wrote this post in the first place was to tell ya'll I gotta do a complete rebuild on the whole site, so some of the pages might look a bit kinky and with my dialup service, it is gonna take awhile, so I am gonna go do somethin' else. Wish me luck, though, as these major rebuilds sometimes take a couple of attempts before they are completed.]

That's a lot of background graphics. Makes it very...colorful. I never figured you for an off pink color scheme sort of a guy.

Then again, my ideal template is probably plain black and white with courier for a font.

The small caps makes it harder to read for me.

I say don't change a thing--even on my slow dial-up, it loads MUCH faster than it did previously. I don't see the off-pink that Jim is seeing, though--sorry, Jim! :-)

About the only thing I'd suggest is a change of font. Perhaps Times New Roman, size 14 or so. Slightly larger than default for the sake of those with bad eyes. (I'm OK with it, but I know you've had several others complaining about the size of the font.)

As for those electronic plug-in-the-wall thingies, they're a total rip-off. I had one for years and it didn't do a d@mn thing except take up a plug socket I could have put to better use.

Subject : New Look

Well, I still can't leave comments at your site. Must say, when you were showing us carpet samples awhile back, I didn't think I was gonna like the new look....I was wrong.

Boy do I EVER like the new look. It is SO much easier to read, looks a lot better and more organized and....just really like it. Good job.

Ciao

I do suppose if I can figure out how to do those various skin thingies, like Jim has, I could fix it where there there were a few different choices. Now that I have, or should say am getting the rebuild to go, on the office system with the cable hookup, but it is taking forever. As it is doing a major rebuild to over 2500 pages, I suspect I am gonna stick with the templates for a long long time, but that does not mean I can play with the .css files. Oh, there is one change that will be happening to the index page, as I am going to change the date bar to use the background like the link boxes on the side panels. I decided I did not like that combination as well when I started seein' it on the Opus category page where it appeared to be a duplication.

I am hopeful serenity does not mind my having published her email, but she said she was trying to comment and could not do so. If you mind Serenity, I can delete it. ;)

Actually, I have trouble commenting too. If I have the individual archive page up and try to comment from there it just goes to a blank search results page. No problem commenting from the comment pop-up (that's where I am now).

Hmm, It may be something hinkey goin' on because I am doin' the rebuild. I am havin' a few problems on my end as well, tryin' to post while it is goin' on.

I tried that and saw what you were talkin' 'bout, so I will check it when the rebuild is done and see if it works then.

Very nice new look. Very impressive.

I like it!! Though the uppercase text throughout is a bit odd. Other than that it looks amazingly cool, and is vastly more readable. Lose the all caps in bodies of posts, and it will be one of the best out there.

Like the new look. The old one didn't work very well on the computer I use most often; some of right column would bleed over to the middle one. Didn't keep me from reading though!

Very spiffy. Easy on the eyes.
